New CFECLIPSE Build is Out

Spike is at it again. Go over to his blog to get the latest nightly build of CFECLIPSE (build 1.1.18.9). Several new features/bug fixes were added. My favorite is the introduction of ctrl+m which now works as it did in CFStudio and Homesite+.

Just be careful. This version has some updates to the snipets feature. After upgrading I lost all of my snipets. Someone posted a possible remedy to get them back, but I haven't tried it yet.

Missed My Birthday

Due to the massive amount of time I've been spending working on this site (and now putting out fires and bug fixes) I hadn't had time to celebrate my birthday.

Technically I wont be able to even think about it for at least a week or so when things calm down a little.

My wife asked me what I would like for my birthday. I hadn't even thought about it. I couldn't think of anything. Until.. I read the latest rumor that the Apple iPod bluetooth device might actually be coming out soon.

Now if I could only get her to read my blog... :)

New Site Launch

Well we got the site out on time. There are a few pieces missing from site launch (still in development; almost done), but for the most part I am quite pleased with the final product.

Have a look and see what all the fuss is about.

The site was coded in 100% Farcry. Okay, technically there are some old pieces they wouldn't let me incorporate into Farcry just yet, but we'll just pretend they aren't there at the moment :) .

The site uses all sorts of fun things... From web services (SOAP on the Your Health pages) to dynamic promo boxes in the right pane (and much more).

Now its 2:30am and I need to get home and get some sleep (and its my birthday :) ).

1 Day Before Site Launch

Here I am one day before site launch. I see the light at the end of the tunnel, but its still far off in the distance. There is so much coding left to be completed and content entered into the system. Its going to be another long day+night.

Two months of 18-hour work days really puts a toll on the human body. When this project is complete I plan to take some time off and rest. I won't want to see another Email or script for a while (maybe I'll go to a tropical island for a weekend with the wife... no computers :) ).

I am crossing my fingers and hoping we get this site completed on-time. We are to go live sometime tomorrow evening (after Spike leaves) so I am crossing my fingers we wont run into any major bugs during launch.

The website has to be live by Monday morning to cooincide with a large marketing campain (TV commercials, radio adds, newspaper, etc) advertising many of the hospital's technological features. The website needs to reflect that image.

Wish me luck.

Uconn Basketball

So last night Spike and I took a break from coding and went to the UCONN backetball girls game at Gampel Pavilion (vs Boston College). UCONN won 80-55.

It was great to get out and not think about coding for a few hours. We're back coding again, however we have only a week and a half left before launch and what looks like weeks of coding left. Time to increase my daily dose of caffeine :).

Yesterday I was asked to give a presentation to the board of directors at the hospital the day after the website launch. So, not only do I have to get all of the coding done, but I'm going to have to find time to prepare a presentation. Fun! :).

There is another meeting two days later. I'm going to see if I can postpone a presentation until that day.

ColdFusion MX 7 Released

I got my hands on a copy of Macromedia ColdFusion MX 7 Developer Edition. As many of you already know (from the Blackstone beta) there are come exciting new features in this version of CF. I suggest you head on over to Macromedia and take a look. When I'm done working on this software project in a few weeks I'll be able to spend some time getting my hands dirty :).

Consultant Update

Well, my request was granted. I got another Farcry developer to come in and help me finish the last of the tools and features needed to meet the short deadline I was given.

Last night we flew in Spike Milligan formerly a developer for Deamon Internet Consultants. Together I'm hoping we can get this thing done on time. I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best :).

I've been so busy lately

I've been quite busy these past 6 months working on a new website. About a couple weeks ago I was given a new deadline of Febuary 21st 2005 (my birthday no less). Now I have about 12 weeks left of CF coding to do in less than 3. Sleep has been pretty much removed from my dictionary at this point.

The website is written in Farcry (using CFMX) and is about 90% complete. Most of the final pieces have to do with some backend work and importing older DB data into the Farcry CMS.

I am pulling whatever leverage I can get to get another Farcry developer in here in the next few days. At least with the two of us we might have a chance. Maybe a miracle will happen and we can get this done on time. If however my boss doesn't grant the extra consultant coming in for a couple weeks, then I'm in trouble :)

Wish me luck.

(stay tuned...)

More Snow?

We have been getting so much snow lately (CT, USA). It’s a darn good thing I can work from home when needed, because today is one of those days (parking is horrendous on snowy days). Today is a snowy day. Not too much (4 to 8 inches), however it’s in the forecast to snow all day.

I was watching the news early this morning and pretty much all of the schools in Connecticut are cancelled. C'mon! By the time the little buggers would be getting out they'd have a total of what... 4 inches? If this was the upper-half of New York state they'd be laughing at the thought of even delaying school let alone canceling it. They deal with much more snow on a regular basis during the winter months.

</rant>    :)

I used to love snow when I was younger. I'd go sledding with friends until the sun had set. Even in college we'd go Tray SleddingTM until our bums were too bruised to go on. Ahh, those were the days :).

Gmail Account Anyone?

I have a few Gmail invites left. If anyone would like one let me know.
