cf.objective() Makes News on PRWeb

I haven't actually announced it yet, but I'll be speaking next month at the Coldfusion conference cf.objective. My topic will be about using the open source Farcry CMS as a content management system for building websites.

This morning I got an email from Judith Dinowitz (the PR manager for cf.objective 2006 and well-known author for many articles on House of Fusion) that the cf.objective conference made the news today on PRWeb and Google News.

Here's a snippet from the article:

cf.Objective() (http://www.cfobjective.com), the first ColdFusion conference of 2006, is the only conference to focus solely on advanced ColdFusion topics and object oriented concepts. On March 11-12, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, ColdFusion programmers from all over the world will gather to learn to incorporate sophisticated techniques and Enterprise-level concepts into their ColdFusion programming.

someone's Gravatar I hate to burst your bubble, but PRWEB is a free press release service that will release just about any story. In the past they have had some of the strangest releases. I personally believe that they pay Google to include them in the news aggregator. About a year ago Google wouldn't aggregate their site for their news section and now they do.

Jeff Coughlin's Gravatar No bubble bursted here, Mr Someone. :)

There's nothing wrong with positive news to help advertise the cf.objective() conference even if it does come from a free press release news service. Heck, if newsvine.com, or digg.com has positive posts about it, I don't think that would hurt either (both can get you a lot fo traffic... and yes, they let you post just about anything).

Judith Dinowitz's Gravatar Actually, PRWeb scores all of the press releases that you submit from a 1 to a 5, with 5 being the highest, and they won't allow anything to go out on Google that they don't score a "4" or higher. To get this onto Google, I had to rewrite my first version of the press release to make it much better. So it's not really as easy as you think. :)

Mark Alan Effinger's Gravatar Judith is right-on in her quicky review of PRWeb. I use the service weekly to help drive branding for luminaries like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and companies like http://www.StairCycle.com and my own http://www.richcontent.com. They do have a strong editorial process, and are really on the ball when it comes to improving your PR, and getting it visible on the web. A worthwhile investment if you're making announcements, looking to improve your page rank, enhancing your brand, or just plain need to get some web visibility.
